Overview of Klonopin-Clonazepam 2mg- Generic Rivotril
Rivotril is a medicine used to treat epilepsy in infants, children and adults. The medicine lowers the number of fits or seizures. Rivotril consists of active medicine clonazepam.
Mechanism of action:
The active medication in Rivotril is clonazepam. Clonazepam belongs to the group of benzodiazepines. This medicine affects the chemicals in the brain. Clonazepam enhances the activity of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) which is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Clonazepam suppresses the spike and wave discharge in absence seizures and decreases the frequency, amplitude and duration of discharge in minor motor seizures.
How to take:
Start Rivotril with a low dose and gradually increase it over 2 to 4 weeks. It is suggested to split daily dose into three equal amounts that should be taken at equal intervals throughout the day. If dose cannot be split equally, the largest dose should be kept at bedtime. The tablet should be swallowed with a full glass of water.
Some medications interacts with rivotril-2mg-klonopin-tablets and affect its activity such as carbamazepine, hydantoins, primidone, Cimetidine, Rifampicin, Hypnotics, tranquillizers, pain-killers and muscle relaxants.
Sudden swelling of throat, face, lips and mouth, sudden swelling of the hands, feet and ankles, skin rashes or itching, swelling of the ankles, cough, tiredness, chest pain etc.
If the patient miss a dose, it should be skipped and the next doses are taken on time. Do not make double dose to cover the missed dose.
Do not take the medicine in excess. If overdosing symptoms appears, visit to the nearby hospital.
The medicine should be stored properly at room temperature away from heat, light and moisture.
