Premarin is an oral dosage form that comes in the form of tablet and used in removing the symptoms of hot flashes, vaginal dryness, irritation and burning. It also prevents osteoporosis in the postmenopausal women and helps in the replacement of estrogen in women who are facing ovarian failure disorder.
Composition of Premarin Medicine:
Premarin tablets consists of conjugated estrogens, which is a mixture of estrogen found from natural sources. Estrogen is a female sex hormone produced in the ovaries of females. Estrogen is responsible for various processes in the body.
How to take Premarin Tablets:
Premarin tablet should be taken regularly. It should be taken with food or immediately after food to reduce the chances of nausea.
Contraindications of Premarin:
Premarin tablets interact with number of drugs e.g. ospemifene, raloxifene, toremifene, tranexamic acid and aromatase inhibitors like anastrozole. So Premarin tablets should not be taken in combination with these drugs.
Side effects of Premarin Tablets:
Common side effects associated with the use of Premarin tablets are- pain in chest, weakness, sudden headache, confusion, vision problems, sweating, pain spreading from the arm to shoulder.
The dose should not be missed. If the dose has been missed, it should be taken as soon as possible. If it is the time of next dosage schedule, missed should be skipped and extra dose should not be taken to cover up the missed dose.
Overdose of Premarin:
If the medicine is taken in excess, nausea, vomiting, unusual bleeding can occur. If these symptoms persist, medical treatment is mandatory.
Storage of Premarin Medicine:
The medicine should be kept properly at room temperature strictly away from moisture and heat. It should be kept in a tightly closed container.
