Overview of Altamofen – Tamoxifen:

Tamoxifen is antagonist of estrogen receptor. The active metabolite is hydroxytamoxifen. In some tissues like endometrium, it behaves as agonist. Thus the medicine behaves as agonist and antagonist. Tamoxifen is the best therapy in hormone receptor positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

Mechanism of action:

Tamoxifen shows competitive binding to the estrogen receptors on tumors and produces a nuclear complex which decreases DNA synthesis and inhibits estrogen effects. Tamoxifen is a nonsteroidal agent which possesses antiestrogenic properties.

Dosage and how to use:

The recommended daily dosage of Altamofen to treat metastatic breast cancer in men and women is 20 -40 mg, and in multiple doses, one in the morning and the other in the evening.

Bodybuilders who use Altamofen tablets are usually advised a daily dosage of 10 mg - 60 mg of Tamoxifen Citrate

Altamofen tablets should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. It should be taken once or twice in a day with a glass of water and preferably it should be taken after a meal to avoid indigestion.

Contraindications:

  • Use of Altamofen is contraindicated if the patient is allergic to the active medicament (Tamoxifen).
  • Altamofen tablets are contraindicated in pregnant women and in breastfeeding females.
  • The medicine is contraindicated in woman who are receiving treatment with an anticoagulant drug or in women who are having medical history of deep vein thrombosis.

Missed dose:

If you miss a regular dose of Altamofen tablets, it should be taken as soon as remember. If missed dose is remembered next day, missed dose should be skipped and the regular dose is followed.

Overdose:

If overdosing is done, go to the nearby hospital.
